Hello! I'm Ally Ryde - a designer, maker and entrepreneur.
I teach the creatively curious how to design, write and sell unique quilt patterns so they can confidently share their creativity with the world and grow a creative business they love. I’m originally from Australia, and I am currently based just outside Verona, Italy.
I love sewing and quilting, sketching, taking photos and using digital and mixed media to develop my designs. I am perennially curious and always seeking new knowledge.
My work is focused around my mission: which is to make design accessible to EVERYONE! It's my true belief that anyone can learn how to design and that good design is something that everyone can experience and enjoy every day.
I push my students to design quilts that make you think – whether it’s how to maximize your bang for your buck or minimize the waste you make through repurposing textiles or just by being smart about the way you design and make quilts. Getting scrappy is something I love to do – it’s an added design parameter that pushes me to come up with a unique solution every time.
