Hi, I'm Jo from The Crafty Nomad. I'm a British Patchwork & Quilting teacher, and I also do a little quilt pattern designing as well. I live in the south of England in a quintessential English village, complete with pubs, village pond and cricket square.
I mainly teach online in my online sewing school and membership (Quilt Hive), and occasionally teach at quilt guilds / groups and at events such as The Festival of Quilts and even on a cruise!
My style is fairly modern with a little bit of traditional mixed in. The colours are bold and bright. My teaching style is calm and clear, and I like to make complicated techniques seem easy to accomplish.
My Workshop
In this fun class with Jo, The Crafty Nomad, you will learn how to make a heart shaped porthole window mug rug (drinks coaster). This is a perfect gift for your valentine or 'galentine'! Choose to feature your favourite novelty fabric inside the window, or use up your scraps and create a scrappy quilt as you go panel to feature in the window instead. For one of her examples Jo upcycled a pair of old jeans to use for the window 'frame' fabric
- Two 6"" squares of fabric for the porthole window (these can be different colours)
- One 7"" square of fabric for the backing
- One 6.5"" square of batting or foam. You could use two layers of batting to make it more sturdy.
- One 6"" square of fabric for the feature fabric or scraps to use for Quilt as You Go instead
- One 2"" x 30"" strip for binding
- Thread, Sewing Machine, Sharp scissors, pencil or pen
So grab your scraps and let's have some fun!
